Baked Churros with chocolate sauce

A churro is a fried-dough pastry—predominantly choux—based snack. Churros are traditional in Spain and Portugal, from where they originate.

  • 1 cup water
  • 100g butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or white sugar)
  • 1 cup plain flour (Maida)
  • 3 eggs
  • For dusting
  • ¼ cups sugar
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 1. Preheat oven to 180c.
  • 2. In a pan, add water, brown sugar and butter.
  • 3. In a law flame heat until butter is melted and mixture starts to boil.
  • 4. Add the flour and mix until there are no flour lumps and you can form a dough ball.
  • 5. Cook the dough for 2-3 min in low heat. then take it off the heat and set aside.
  • 6. In a bowl, combine eggs and vanilla and whisk together.
  • 7. Add the egg mix into the dough part by part. Stir well until eggs are mixed well and mixture looks like mashed potatoes.
  • 8. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
  • 9. Pipe dough into the prepared baking sheet. You can make churros of any shape.Leave about 2 inches of space between the churros.
  • 10. Bake for around 20 minutes or until it turns to golden brown. Once its done turn off the oven and leave them inside the overn for 10 minutes to dry a little. (Or else churros will become flat and soft once they cool. )
  • 11. Combine sugar and cinnamin powder.
  • 12. Take the churros from the oven and dust the sugar cinamon mixture until well covered. Do this when the churros are warm .
  • Enjoy homemade churros with hot chocolate syrup.
